Our Indian glass paintings are handpainted in Rajasthan. Every painting is a unique piece with a colourful history.
The technique of reverse glass painting reached India from China in the late 18th century. Indian artists learnt the technique and began producing reverse glass paintings reflecting Indian tradition. Most Indian reverse glass paintings portray scenes and characters from Indian mythology, while some depict kings, nobles, courtesans and musicians. These paintings are always painted in gorgeous rich colours and are a real statement piece.
Lisa says: “I love the detail, the kitschness of some of them and of course the colour. It’s like having a little bit of India on your wall!”
